PT Kawasan Industri Jorong signs Contract with ECEC for landmark Ammonia & Urea Chemical Plant in Indonesia

Huangshan, China – 5th June 2025 – PT Kawasan Industri Jorong (KIJ) today announced the official contract signing with East China Engineering Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (ECEC) for the development of the Ammonia & Urea Chemical Plant, a key national-level project located in South Kalimantan, Indonesia. Witnessed by Senior Members of China National People’s Congress and Officials of RCEP member countries at the 2025 RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership) Summit, the signing was officiated by Mr. Wishnu Soehardjo (Chairman, KIJ) and Mr. Li Lixin (Chairman, ECEC).

The Chemical plant will be inside Jorong Borneo Integrated City that has a planned area of 6,370 hectares, with the first phase involving a total investment of approximately USD 478 million, with an estimated production capacity in the first phase of 300,000 tons of ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea annually.

The signing ceremony marks a critical step in the execution of the project following the successful completion of feasibility studies, government endorsement, and early-stage infrastructure development. It further strengthening regional cooperation among member countries.

Mr. Wishnu Soehardjo, Chairman of PT Kawasan Industri Jorong, stated:

Construction is scheduled to commence in Feb 2026, following the finalization of all contract terms and compliance requirements.

Also in attendance at the signing were representatives from YSB Construction & Trading Pte Ltd, the appointed investment and engineering advisory firm. Mr. Matthew Teo, Chief Executive Officer of YSB Group, commented:

The Jorong Borneo Integrated City is expected to generate substantial economic benefits, enhance regional infrastructure, and create thousands of local employment opportunities, while contributing to Indonesia’s broader food security, alternative energy and industrial strategies.
